60-year-old man killed in Walnut Creek, suspect arrested

A 60-year-old man was assaulted and killed in Walnut Creek on Thursday night, police said. The Walnut Creek Police Department received a call at 6:52 p.m. Thursday about a “disturbance and possible assault.” Authorities eventually determined that the assault took place at the 1800 block of Lacassie Avenue and responded to the scene. The block is a residential area that includes a construction site and Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church, and is a short distance away from a BART station. Police found the 60-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries, which they determined to be the result of an assault. It’s unclear what type of weapon was used.
