SFGATE: Warriors ride big 2nd quarter to Game 1 rout of Pelicans

Warriors ride big 2nd quarter to Game 1 rout of Pelicans Published on April 29, 2018 at 11:10AM by By Connor Letourneau The Warriors were well on their way to a 123-101 rout Saturday night of the Pelicans when, after draining a three-pointer in front of his bench, Klay Thompson turned around, shimmed his shoulders and stuck out his tongue. As Thompson ran back on defense, his teammates continued to celebrate, embracing each other while they stumbled up and down the sideline. Standing in the second row in a black blazer, Stephen Curry grinned as he mimicked Thompson’s signature pump fake. It was still the first half, but Golden State had already eradicated any doubt.

Curry likely to return for Game 2 Published on April 29, 2018 at 07:02AM by By Connor Letourneau Warriors guard Stephen Curry is likely to return for Game 2 of the second round Tuesday night after being ruled out for Game 1 on Saturday. Golden State head coach Steve Kerr informed Curry after shoot-around Saturday morning that he wouldn’t play Game 1 against the Pelicans. The decision came down to the fact that Curry has only played one 5-on-5 contact scrimmage since he sprained his left MCL in a March 23 win over Atlanta. "When you've been out five weeks and you want to play in the playoffs," Kerr said, "I don't think one scrimmage is enough.
