SFGATE: Search for Cal student who plunged off waterfall enters 6th day

Search for Cal student who plunged off waterfall enters 6th day Published on August 17, 2018 at 10:42AM by By Peter Fimrite Searchers looking for a missing UC Berkeley law student who fell off a cliff into a waterfall in Oregon said they are facing especially difficult factors due to the location where the accident occurred. Brian Lewinstein, 23, is presumed dead after he crossed a safety fence at Toketee Falls, in Douglas County, last Sunday in an attempt to snap a photograph and fell into the roiling water below. The 113-foot high waterfall, on the North Umpqua River 58 miles east of Roseburg, cascades 28 feet to a small pool and then plunges 85 feet to a large pool. Rescuers believe Lewinstein fell into the upper pool and may have been carried over the second fall.
