SFGATE: Republican on House panel: 'We've lost all credibility' on Russia

Republican on House panel: 'We've lost all credibility' on Russia Published on March 13, 2018 at 08:56PM by Avi Selk, The Washington Post WASHINGTON - Rep. Thomas Rooney, R-Fla., went on CNN on Monday night with the intention of defending a draft report written by his fellow Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee - who announced earlier in the day that they had found no evidence that President Trump's campaign had conspired with Russia and did not believe that Russia had even tried to help Trump get elected. The report has been disowned by Democrats on the panel, who say it ignores evidence of collusion, contradicts CIA and FBI assessments and undermines a special counsel's ongoing investigation into whether Trump's campaign worked with Russia during the 2016 election. So it could have used Rooney's defense.

No one was more surprised Tillerson was fired than Tillerson Published on March 13, 2018 at 07:48PM by Anne Gearan and Carol Morello, The Washington Post WASHINGTON - Rex Wayne Tillerson spent a tumultuous year at the helm of the State Department, frequently undercut by the president he disagreed with on key foreign policy issues and derided by many of his employees who blamed him for marginalizing their role and diplomacy itself. But after months of denying he intended to resign, Tillerson was ousted Tuesday just as he seemed to be hitting his diplomatic stride. In recent weeks, he grew even more outspoken in his criticism of Russia, more confident that his patient pressure on North Korea was bearing fruit and seemingly more comfortable that he would outlast his many critics in the West Wing. In the end, no one was more surprised that Tillerson was fired than Tillerson himself.
