San Francisco got a shot of sloppy weather Tuesday — the first of three storms bringing much-needed precipitation to the region this week. The volley began about noon and left roadways in San Francisco with about a quarter inch of rain by the evening commute, according to the National Weather Service. “Overall (it’s) just some decent rainfall that we desperately need,” said weather service meteorologist Roger Gass. “We are basically going to have three systems impact the region between now and the weekend.” A high surf advisory along the coast remained in effect through Friday morning, and forecasters posted a high-wind watch for Thursday, beginning at 1 p.m.
