Oakland police shoot, kill allegedly armed man

Oakland police shot and killed a man armed with a semi-automatic weapon Sunday evening near the MacArthur BART Station, authorities said. Officers were dispatched about 6:15 p.m. to the 900 block of 40th Street, a half-mile from the BART station, where a man was reportedly armed, according to the Oakland Police Department. Officers spotted the man and gave him verbal commands to drop the weapon, police said. “He has a semi-automatic in his right hand,” an officer said in radio communications. When the suspect did not comply with commands, police said, officers fired their weapons.
