Big storm gives way to sunny skies Friday — then more rain

San Francisco received almost an inch of rain between Wednesday and Thursday nights, with the heaviest of the downpour coming overnight. San Francisco received 0.97 inches of rain by 7 p.m. on Thursday and San Francisco Airport received 1.36 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service. Richmond got 1.26 inches, Concord had 1.77 inches, and Milpitas got 1.20 inches of rain by Thursday night. Mount Veeder in Napa County received 3.55 inches in the 24-hour period ending at 7 p.m. Thursday. Winds reached up to 35 mph in some regions of San Francisco on Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.
