New evacuations were ordered early Friday in Shasta County as erratic winds fueled the Carr Fire, an aggressive inferno that jumped the Sacramento River and prevented firefighters from getting close while residents fled for their lives. Residents in Shasta Lake City, Summit City, Shasta Dam Visitor Center and all of Shasta Dam Boulevard were ordered to leave following a horde of residents throughout the county who were told to “get out now” the previous night, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire. “These firefighters, they’re going for the attack and then they get beat back up by the erratic fire,” Cal Fire spokesman Scott McLean said. “It’s just intense.
