Two Sacramento police officers shot Stephon Clark seven times, with three bullets hitting him in the back, while the angle of the wounds to the unarmed African American man suggests he was not struck primarily from behind, according to an autopsy conducted by the Sacramento County coroner’s office and released Tuesday. Coroner Kimberly Gin told the Sacramento Police Department in a letter that the results contradict the “erroneous information that was released” after an independent autopsy by Dr. Bennet Omalu, who was hired by Clark’s family. Omalu reported Clark was hit eight times, including six times in the back.
