A mudslide occurred on Highway 84 early Friday morning, shutting down the eastbound lane to delay coastal commutes, according to the California Highway Patrol. Rocks and mud tumbled onto the highway at around 4:55 a.m., CHP said. No vehicle damage or injuries were reported in the slide, said CHP Officer James Evans. “They’re still waiting for Caltrans to bring some kind of equipment out there,” he said. There was no estimated time to reopen the lane. CHP issued a severe traffic alert for the area. Sophie Haigney is a San Francisco Chronicle staff writer. Email: sophie.haigney@sfchronicle.
